ABOUT NORTH EAST COMMUNITY AWARENESS PLENARY (NECAP) 2025
The North East Community Awareness Plenary (NECAP) 2025 is an initiative by Viswapragna Foundation, aimed at fostering awareness and addressing critical societal issues related to Cancer and Autism. This plenary, scheduled for February 23, 2025, in Tezpur, Assam, aims to bridge the gap between scientific facts and community curiosity, dispelling myths and misconceptions for a healthier, informed society.
Addressing Myths and Misconceptions About Cancer
Despite advancements in medical science, cancer remains a topic surrounded by myths and misconceptions. Common misinformation includes fears that a biopsy can spread cancer or that diet alone can cure it. These myths, often propagated by unreliable sources, cause undue fear and delay appropriate treatment.
To address this, NECAP 2025 will feature experienced oncologists from institutions like:
- Tata Memorial Hospital
- Kidwai Memorial Institute
- Apollo Chennai
- AIG Hyderabad
These experts will engage directly with community members from diverse professions—bankers, teachers, police officers, vendors, and others. This interactive forum will provide reliable knowledge, debunk myths, and empower participants to share accurate information within their communities.
Autism Awareness: Understanding and Acceptance
The second focus of NECAP 2025 is Autism Awareness. Autism, a developmental condition, is often misunderstood. Many parents struggle to grasp its implications, understand their child’s needs, and adapt their lives accordingly, leading to frustration and confusion.
NECAP 2025 will host a parallel session on autism, featuring:
- Child psychiatrists
- Psychologists
- Trainers
- Special school faculty
- Parents of children with autism
This session will offer practical strategies, dispel myths, and create a supportive network for families. By sharing experiences and expert insights, it aims to empower families and foster societal acceptance of autism.
The Goal of NECAP 2025
The overarching goal of NECAP 2025 is to foster awareness, acceptance, and action. By bridging the gap between scientific expertise and community understanding, it aims to:
- Dispel myths and misinformation about cancer and autism.
- Promote evidence-based approaches to treatment and support.
- Create a ripple effect of awareness by engaging individuals from diverse community streams.
- Build a support network for parents of autistic children to share resources and experiences.
This plenary is not just a conference—it is a movement for societal change. NECAP 2025 seeks to create a well-informed community capable of challenging misconceptions and advocating for reliable information.
